AMORPHIS Announce New Singer

January 9, 2005

Finland's AMORPHIS have announced the addition of singer Tomi Joutsen (NEVERGREEN) to the group's ranks. The band made their first appearance with their new frontman Saturday night (Jan. 8) in Helsinki as part of a benefit concert for the victims of the tsunami disaster in Southeast Asia. Audio samples of Joutsen's work with his previous band, NEVERGREEN, can be heard at Nevergreen.org.

Joutsen joins AMORPHIS as the replacement for longtime AMORPHIS singer Pasi Koskinen, who left the band in August. Pasi's last live appearance with the band took place at the Kontu Rock festival on August 21.

According to a posting on AMORPHIS' official web site, the band have commenced the songwriting process for their new album and the new songs are "stronger than ever."

AMORPHIS' most recent CD, "Far From The Sun", received its long-overdue North/South American release in September through Nuclear Blast Records. The album is packaged as a special version with three bonus songs, including an acoustic version of the title track, "Far From The Sun".

AMORPHIS will be embarking on a U.S. tour beginning on March 2 in Phoenix. Support at all shows will come from BEYOND THE EMBRACE, INTO ETERNITY and SINGLE BULLET THEORY. A complete list of currently confirmed dates can be found at this location.
